Overlays

An OBS browser source that renders your Twitch chat — badges, emotes (Twitch + BTTV + FFZ + 7TV), bot filtering, and animation styles, with settings stored in your toolset account.

What it's for

  • Showing chat on stream without piping through Streamlabs.
  • Filtering out bot lines, !commands, and specific users.
  • Tuning a clean visual chatbox that matches your scene.

How to set it up

  1. Create a hosted source on the settings page and paste the URL into OBS as a Browser Source.
  2. Pick your colors, font size, and animation; toggle badges and bot filtering.
  3. Optionally add muted users and masked words.

FAQ

How does it connect to chat?
Settings live in your toolset account; the URL is a private opaque token (so the same hosted source URL keeps working even if you regenerate the token); the overlay connects directly to Twitch via tmi.js.
Why don't my BTTV / 7TV emotes show up?
The overlay loads BTTV, FFZ, and 7TV emotes for the channel automatically once it knows the channel ID. If they're missing, double-check the channel name field, then refresh OBS's browser source.
Will YouTube chat show up here?
Not yet — Phase 1 is Twitch only. YouTube would need its own OAuth to read live chat; planned for a later release.
